This position will assist the Facility Planning team as well as supporting Central Florida with space planning, furniture planning & specifying, furniture installation, interior finish design & coordination and coordination with Construction Project Managers for project execution.
The Staff Interior Designer will work within the Capital Planning & Real Estate Department as a member of that team in delivering the highest level of customer service to the Nemours Enterprise. The Staff Interior Designer will also manage all furniture & artwork requests from our Clinical Operations teams. The Staff Interior Designer will have a 4 year degree
in Interior Design from an accredited college or university. Prior work experience in interior design is required and healthcare interior design is a bonus. If the designer has not already taken and passed the NCIDQ exam, he/she will prepare to take the NCIDQ exam, when eligible.
Option for telecommute. Uphold established furniture, finish and space standards Space planning and preliminary test fit for feasibility studies and basic Auto CAD design/construction documents; experience with casework details and construction Knowledge of finish materials and installation methods to insure proper installation; review furniture and construction installations for adherence to documentation; meet
with Manufacturers Representatives and Furniture Dealers; keep the Design and Construction library current, clean and neat.
Meet with end users to determine requirements, research products and material then write furniture specifications and document finishes; while maintaining standards. Keep the Director, Facility Planning informed of status of all assignments - ability to work on multiple tasks and projects Assist other members of the Capital Planning & Real Estate department as required. Knowledge of and ability to research building code and infection control issues and keep current on healthcare design issues/codes and evidence based design research Measure and document (Auto CAD & Revit) interior spaces, prepare existing conditions drawings and maintain backgrounds as needed.
Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities, as may be assigned from time to time by employee's supervisor. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Job Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design required. Minimum of 5+ years experience required. Prior Healthcare work experience is a strong plus. Prior work in a commercial furniture dealership is a baseline. Auto CAD proficiency is required, interest in transitioning to Revit. NCIDQ Certification, LEED AP preferred.
