Job Purpose This position a ss i sts the Resource Management and Development division's design professionals with fieldwork and administration work associated with researching, planning, designing, and implementing Capital Improvement Projects throughout the District utilizing resource based design principles in adherence to the District's Mission. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist in gathering field data utilizing

GPS units, surveying equipment, and digital camera. Assist in the preparation of site analyses, conceptual drawings, master plans, presentations, construction documents, details, specifications, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates utilizing various traditional and computer aided design and drafting software.

Assist in administering contracts including conducting reference checks, preparing written correspondence, attending coordination meetings, performing construction observation and inspections for compliance with plans and specifications, and measuring and confirming field quantities for processing pay requests. Assist in administering various internal work order requests between

district departments Develop graphic aids and exhibits including both hand-drawn and computer-generated formats.

Perform general office duties such as ordering drafting supplies, and organizing flat file data, scanning drawings and filing. Participate in public input gathering meetings and open houses as required. Collect construction material samples including soils, gravel, geotextiles, and miscellaneous pavements etc. Assist in environmental sampling including air, water, and soil using appropriate equipment. Assist in monitoring of vegetation planting activities and construction of engineered facilities including trails, waterways, and storm water management facilities.

Prepare construction observation reports as required. Additional duties as assigned. Starting Pay: $15.00-$20.00 an hour Education and Experience Required A d ditional In f orm a tio n : M ust be 1 8 y e ars of age or older by the f irst day of em p lo y me n t. Performing fieldwork and accessing construction sites will require jeans and safety boots. Other PPE items will be provided by the District (hard Hats, Gloves, Safety Vests, etc. ) H o urs: May - S e p tember; 4 0 hou r s per w eek, 8:00am - 4:30pm ( m ay i nc l ude w e e k e nds on oc c asi o n) Pr e fer r ed Ex p erie n ce: Must be entered into an accredited Professional Program for Landscape Architecture or Civil Engineering, or related field, at their respective school.

Spe c i al training or ot h er l i cens e , c ertificatio n : Must h ave com p leted cou r se w ork in Landscape Architecture , Civil Engineering , or r e lated fie l d; or e q uiv a l ent comb i nati o n of tr a ini n g and e xperience. A bil i ty to w ork in an office and outdoor setting. A bil i ty to o p erate computers, survey equipment, and hand t o ols etc. A bil i ty to f o l l ow w ritten and o ra l dire c tion and re l ate to the p ublic.

Must have a val i d dr i ver ' s l i c en se. Skil l s In: Familiarity with Microsoft Office Word and Excel is essential. Knowledge of Autodesk Auto CAD, Autodesk Civil 3D, Trimble Sketch Up, ESRI Arc Gis/Map, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe In-design, and other Microsoft Office products is preferred. Knowledge of both native and non-native plants of the Midwest is preferred. General proficiency in performing mathematical calculations is required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
