As a Principal System Safety Engineer , your responsibilities will include: Analyzing engineering hardware and electrical drawings and schematics backssing for fault tolerance, latent hazards, and safety requirements compliance Working with test and tactical operating and maintenance procedures to assure the proper administrative controls are in place Working across all integrated product teams and lines to properly eliminate hazards or provide effective controls.
Providing leadership in collaborations with Program Management and government approval authorities from program startup through production to demilitarization and disposal This job is posted as Onsite and is based at our Tucson, AZ facility.
Responsibilities to Anticipate: Key responsibilities will include: Performing System Safety Program or Design analyses Managing a large system safety program or multiple mid-sized safety programs, including: Monitoring program technical execution, Interfacing with stakeholders (e. g. customers, program offices, subcontractors, vendors) Mentoring Jr. Engineers Preparing Safety backssment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for Customer Approval Briefing safety of the program at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications and military standards Preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program Collaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a full understanding of product architecture and design Obtain and maintain Special Access Program clearance Basic Qualifications: Typically Requires: Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM).
Electrical Engineering degree preferred.
Minimum 8 years of relevant experience with: System Safety Engineering, System Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, or equivalent Safety Engineering experience in areas including Aerospace, Automotive, Nuclear Energy or Medical Device. An advanced degree may account for additional years of experience as required for this position. Leadership experience The ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret U. S. government issued security clearance is required. U. S. citizenship is required, as only U.
