maintenance. Primary Purpose We are seeking a creative and experienced Instructional Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of engaging learning experiences and training solutions.

The role requires a deep understanding of learning theories and instructional design models, along with proficiency in authoring tools and multimedia technologies. This role is part of the North American AE (Application Engineering) team and will coordinate day to day activities related to instructional design within product innovation and installation process innovation. This role will work projects through the Hardie Innovation Phase-Gate

System from Scoping to Deployment. The Instructional Designer will create effective and efficient learning experiences around innovative product and system installation.

It involves developing instructional strategies and materials that help product installers understand and use innovative products and innovative installation processes seamlessly. This ensures a user-friendly experience and enhances the adoption and commercialization success of products in the market. This role will be based in Fontana CA reporting to the R&D Application Engineering Manager. Projects will occur across North America and therefore require up to 30% travel. What You’ll Do: Learning Material Development: Partner with James Hardie’s Technical Sales Team to assist with sales tools development, create and publish Installation videos and animations.

Analyze learning needs and partner with subject matter experts to provide effective training solutions. Design instructional materials for all learning modalities, including in-person, virtual, and self-paced learning. Develop course outlines, curricula, and instructional materials that meet learning objectives. Utilize instructional design methodologies to tailor content for various learning styles and audiences. Manage and update existing training materials to reflect changes in technology, regulations, or industry standards.

Instructional Strategy: Apply instructional design theories and practices to create innovative and effective learning experiences. Adopt company evaluation methods to measure the effectiveness of training and learning outcomes. Adapt instructional materials for diverse audiences and delivery modalities. Stay updated on industry best practices and advancements in siding installation techniques to ensure training content is current and relevant. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in instructional design to enhance training delivery.

Technology Integration: Utilize various e-learning technologies and authoring tools (e. g. Articulate 360) to develop engaging and interactive learning content. Collaborate with technical teams to ensure seamless integration of learning technologies. Project Management: Manage instructional design projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including HR, operations, and subject matter experts. Coordinate a workstream within a new product development project.

Regularly update stakeholders on project status and solicit feedback for continuous improvement. The position responsibilities outlined above are in no way to be construed as all encompassing. Other duties, responsibilities, and qualifications may be required and/or assigned as necessary. What You’ll Bring: Excellent knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models. Solid experience with course authoring software, multimedia editing software, and learning management systems. Visual design skills (Illustrator) and ability to storyboard. Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, scripts.

Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with subject matter experts and diverse teams (architects, engineers, contractors, product installers). Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Education / Experience Required: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Design or Technology, or a related field. Proven experience (3-5 years) as an Instructional Designer within fast paced industry or consulting.

Experience with building materials or general construction is a plus. Experience with Six Sigma or Toyota Production System (TPS) is a plus. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, market conditions, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position qualifies for benefits which may also include a discretionary bonus.
