campus. This position reports to the Director of Curriculum Coordination. The Instructional Designer works independently, under general supervision, to both build tangibles and provide consultative support for faculty, staff, and curricular deans in the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of online courses and other SOMA projects.

Duties & Responsibilities: Duties include, but not limited

to: Assist in the design, preparation and maintenance of teaching materials for online delivery. Work with the curricular coordination team to aid in the development and delivery of curriculum and training programs for faculty and staff.

Coordinate and contribute to special projects as needed. Advise program curriculum committees regarding instructional programs and standards. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Apply appropriate learning theories, instructional theories and media applications to instructional scenarios Interact with faculty and staff to provide training, documentation and support for instructional technology and applications that complement and enhance

instruction Design, build and revise online courses in collaboration with subject matter experts Create help documents, tutorials and other content to assist faculty, staff and students.

Education & Experience: Master's degree in Education, Learning Design, or a comparable field required. One to two years of experience in the design and development of technology-based instructional materials and courses in higher education. Experience in applying instructional design methodology and principles to the design, delivery, and evaluation of distance learning courses. Evidence of experience in course management software (Canvas preferred). Experience with common software application packages used in higher education teaching.

Demonstrated knowledge of effective teaching technique, curriculum development and instructional design. Exceptional presentation, interpersonal, problem-solving, customer service, listening and writing skills. Must be detail-oriented, internally motivated, flexible and highly organized.
