The National Systems Group serves as the technical advisor to the Intelligence Community and its mission partners involved in the collection and distribution of national and tactical intelligence, including electronics programs, advanced technologies, ground and communications,

imagery programs, and systems engineering and launch. The GEOINT Innovations Office’s Futures Architecture Department serves as a lead technical advisor to the NRO’s Office of the GEOINT Chief Architect.

We are looking for a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer to lead space communication network efforts that will impact the design and acquisition of the next generation GEOINT space architecture in this highly influential office! This position requires 100% onsite work in Chantilly, VA What You’ll Be Doing Coordinating subject matter experts from Aerospace’s matrixed organization to perform orbit design trades from a networking perspective in the evaluation of the efficacy of future

GEOINT space communication architectures for performance, user requirements satisfaction and mission utility Coordinating potential Aerospace hardware demonstrations Working independently and organizing technical support to conduct constellation and architecture level trades to include constellation sizing, orbit design and configuration with a focus on space communication networks, impacts on connectivity and data throughput Providing objective technical input to key architecture and enterprise level decisions in the NRO GEOINT Directorate and beyond, responding to urgent technical questions originating from multiple agencies (NRO, NGA, Do D, ODNI), NRO Leadership and Congressional direction Identifying, tasking and tracking Aerospace matrixed resources Communicating across Aerospace, SETA and Government teams Presenting results to senior level program office management What You Need to be Successful Minimum Requirements for the Project Engineer role: Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, mathematics or related technical field A minimum of 8 years of progressively more responsible experience Familiarity with space communication networks Demonstrated capability to address and solve complex challenges Strong organization and communication skills This position requires an active TS security clearance which is issued by the U.

S. government. U. S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance In addition to the above, the following are the minimum requirements for the Senior Project Engineer role A minimum of 12 years of progressively more responsible experience Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary technical teams and integrate their results into decision-driving products How You Can Stand Out It would be impressive if you have one or more of these: Advanced degree in relevant science, engineering, mathematics or related technical field Strong understanding of Government Communication architectures and networks Technical experience in architecture modeling and orbital mechanics Detailed knowledge of relevant Aerospace resources and demonstrated experience in planning or conducting architectural and optimization trade-studies Experience developing visualizations using modeling and simulation software to depict constellations and architectures Program Office experience working directly with contractors, SETA and government customers Experience working within the intelligence community and advising senior officials Leadership Competencies Our leadership philosophy is simple: every employee, regardless of level and role, can demonstrate leadership.
