We are a small team with the opportunity to make a big impact. As Caterpillar is an established company with thousands of products in mining and construction all around the world, the customer pull for autonomy is clear. As Perception Architect, you will lead the design for our perception stack, including lidar, radar and computer vision efforts, and collaborate
cross-functionally with other teams to ensure a high quality and robust autonomy solution is produced.
The team works in a dynamic environment that supports flexible work hours and a hybrid schedule, splitting time between working from home and in-person collaboration in the office in Pittsburgh, PA. Job Duties Lead perception development through collaboration with other technical leaders at Caterpillar Solve challenging perception problems in such a way that the team can deliver effectively Design, write, review and test perception algorithms Lead the perception team to a high standard in software development Work with the team to manage architecture, software and deliverables from other teams Basic Qualifications Master's or Ph D in Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or related field 10+ years of experience working in robotics with 5+ focused on perception Exceptional C++ programming skills and more than 5 years developing robotics software in a Linux environment Experience applying machine learning algorithms to perception problems and executing on a GPU or FPGA Top Candidates will also have Experience in full software development lifecycle Familiarity with Python Experience with Agile software development Strong mathematics skills Experience mentoring engineers Additional Information The location for this position is Pittsburgh, PA Domestic Relocation assistance is available for this position This position may require 10% travel Sponsorship is available for this position Employee benefit details Our goal at Caterpillar is for you to have a rewarding career.
