DLBA Naval Architects, a division of Gibbs & Cox, is searching for full time Entry Level Marine Designer. As a member of a multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for developing functional 3D CAD models and 2D construction drawings to support the development of steel, aluminum,
and composite (a) recreational vessels, (b) commercial ship designs, and (c) U. S. Government programs from 20’ to 250’ feet in length. Primary Responsibilities Prepare accurate and detailed designs, free form surface models and/or drawings based on concept sketches, photographs, or clearly stated functional requirements or appearances.
Assisting naval architects and engineers in the design of boats and craft and providing solutions by applying existing design skills, techniques, and company procedures. Adheres to existing CAD standards and procedures in conjunction with other designers to improve product quality and efficiency. Clearly document work solutions and challenges. Collaborate
with respective engineers to develop solutions. Complete drawing assignments accurately and on a timely basis utilizing CAD programs.
Develop conceptual and artistic renderings of boats and crafts in accordance with acceptable commercial standards. Basic Qualifications U. S. Citizenship is required and candidates must be able to obtain a secret level security clearance Education: Post-high-school education in Computer Aided Design. Less than 1 Year of experience developing 3-D designs and 2-D drawings to recreational and/or commercial standards Knowledge of basic mechanical principles and practice. Demonstrated working knowledge with least two (2) of the following CAD software tools: Auto CAD for 2D drafting Rhinoceros 3D Ship Constructor Autodesk Inventor Strong oral, written and presentation skills.
Strong time management and organization skills as an independent contributor. Demonstrated interpersonal skills as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team. Must have visual and audio abilities to perform all aforementioned job tasks. Preferred Qualifications Shipyard experience Design, testing, construction or operations/maintenance of small craft is considered an advantage.
