Group seeks a student to assist staff members in Systems Engineering, Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering, and/or Computer Science. Example projects include imaging sensors, laser communications systems, and radar systems for airborne, terrestrial and space environments with an emphasis on small satellites and Cube Sat applications.
Systems Engineering duties may include supporting payload architecture definition (optical, mechanical, electrical), generating system-level block diagrams (electrical and/or mechanical), environment hazard analysis of sensitive components, integration and test planning, and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) work. Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering duties
may include structural and thermal testing, design using Solid Works, creating databases, and running software analysis codes. Computer Science tasks may include creating system models, creating software analysis models and analyzing the results using Matlab.
Requirements The successful candidate should have at least a junior standing in their engineering or physics field. Programs of study include Aeronautics/Astronautics, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or equivalent. One or more of the following experiences are preferred, but not required: CAD, computer programming (such as Matlab), and/or MBSE. The length of a typical
fall co-op term is 4-6 months. The successful candidate should have at least a junior standing in their engineering or physics field.
Programs of study include Aeronautics/Astronautics, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or equivalent. One or more of the following experiences are preferred, but not required: CAD, computer programming (such as Matlab), and/or MBSE. The length of a typical fall co-op term is 4-6 months. Selected candidate will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level Do D security clearance.
