organize and oversee a team of Dock Associates (freight handlers) during a specified shift to ensure that freight is properly loaded and unloaded to facilitate on-time, error-free deliveries.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Assists in the hiring and training of dock staff. Assists in the unloading and loading of freight when necessary. Oversee and lead a team of Dock Associates ( freight sorting handlers ). Oversee dock operations to ensure safe and efficient loading and unloading of all freight. Conducts daily inspections, ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and internal laws, regulations, and policies. Assist with development and execution of continuous improvement initiatives
Perform c onflict and issue resolution management as needed Manage daily end-of- shift reports , as well as performance updates Work directly with C ustomer , on-site Performs o ther related duties as assigned REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES : Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with the proven ability to meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Basic understanding of truck freight rates. Strong understanding of applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements and other related safety policies and best practices.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to monitor and maintain records. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE : High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous supervisory experience preferred. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Prolonged periods standing and up to four hours per shift sitting and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds. Must be able to work in hot and cold climates and in an environment with many noises and odors.
