Role Title: Veterinary Technician: Urgent Care Primary Department: Urgent Care Shift: Swing / Evening. Hours to be determined, but may be scheduled 10 am-8 pm, 12 pm-10 pm, or similar. Subject to change as the department gets closer
to the implementation date (end of May, early June 2023). Schedule: Variable - both rotating and fixed schedule options may be available.
Weekends Required, no more than 50% per month. Holidays are required, no more than four per year. Schedules are locked in 8 weeks into the future, so we cannot make changes without your approval within that timeframe. Compensation: Hourly, dependent on skills, education, credentials, and other factors. Benefits: Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance provided at up to 80% covered by AERC. The primary function of the Veterinary Technician is to provide exceptional care of both patients and clients by serving as an extension of the veterinarian. Additionally, the Veterinary Technician is expected to promote professional growth through education and learning opportunities. Your Skills & Experiences. Who are we looking for? You possess the knowledge to triage phone calls, review medical plans, perform financial transactions, and discharge patients leaving the hospital in addition to your typical technical skills and abilities.
Patient Care Skills can be taught. We value training and professional development. You will be provided with a minimum of 16 training shifts before you're set free to save lives. These training shifts will be both on the floor and classroom-based, working closely with individuals from our professional development training team. When you succeed, we all succeed. You will be comfortable with the basic tasks such as IVC placement, venipuncture, bloodwork (CBC/Chem/UA), and performance of x-rays and sedated procedures. If you have advanced skills such as central line placement, urinary catheterization, critical nursing, pharmacology, physiology, and advanced imaging, you will bring a wealth of knowledge to our motivated and education-hungry team.
These skills are not required, nor will they be regularly utilized in Urgent Care; however, still impressive and beneficial nonetheless!
