maintenance team and maintenance of 72 tractors and 130 trailers to achieve the company's safety, productivity, capital, and maintenance objectives. The role may involve supporting operations as and when required.
It is mandatory to be available after business hours with a laptop and mobile phone. This position will be based in the Deer Park, TX. Covering equipment for Deer Park, TX, La Porte, TX, Freeport, TX and Gonzales, LA. Primary Responsibilities: Day-to-day supervision of maintenance personnel. Ensuring compliance with all safety (both internal and DOT requirements) at all times. Interviewing, hiring, and training new mechanics and drivers to fill open positions. Develop a strategy
for trailer rehab/repair process. Ensure we are making the appropriate decisions identifying rehabbing equipment.
Lead the trailer maintenance decision process based on garage capabilities. Oversee the use of EAM and ensure work is being entered into the system. Lead efforts to manage the tractor lease and turn in process. Understand length of leases and ensure turn in process is managed appropriately. Oversee processes to reduce maintenance costs and improve compliance across BAPOC. Develop a six-sigma culture and direction in the Fleet team to ensure long-term projects are in place. Communicate with Superintendents and mechanics to gain feedback on potential new initiatives.
Ensure FDO is followed and recommend updates to Fleet Manager as well as maintenance and training programs that are being utilized in the field. Create a program for controlling inventory of parts to manage inventory and costs. Ensure garage is clean, maintained and organized. Participate and lead safety meetings in conjunction with the distribution team. Lead/Support RCA/RCI investigations as necessary. Meet company policy with submission and approval of employee expenses. Ensure training records are kept on all employees and all necessary training is scheduled, attended, and completed.
Other Requirements include: Accessibility during off-hours (laptop and cell phone). Able to travel outside the Houston area up to 10% of the time. Qualifications: College degree preferred. Minimum 2+ years Leadership/Management experience. Minimum 5+ years Distribution or Logistics experience. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in all situations with great interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate teams and manage conflict. Strong analytical skills and financial awareness. Problem-solving skills including six sigma experience preferred. Excellent communication written and verbal, team interaction and presentation skills.
Self-starter, who is comfortable working independently, effectively manages multiple tasks and achieves results with minimal supervision.
