Perform EKGs. (Mortara ELI 380)Perform only those waived tests and procedures that are authorized by the Lab Director. Ensure specimen collection equipment and inventory are sufficient for the needs of the laboratory. Properly identify and collect adequate specimens for laboratory testing via the following collection processes: Venipuncture Capillary collection Arterial collection (Radial only)Follow the laboratories policy and procedures for specimen handling, specimen processing, reporting of test results and maintenance of patient records. Follow the laboratories policies for proper preanalytical, analytical and postanalytical specimen collection, specimen retention and test procedures.
Wear a Vocera every day for your whole shift to effectively communicate with other departments and your co-workers. Participate in proficiency testing for those waived tests that have been approved by the Lab Director. Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance and patient care. Correct the problem and immediately notify the Lab Manager. Document all corrective action taken when test systems deviate for the Lab's established performance specifications. Is knowledgeable and adhere to Patient Bill of Rights and hospital policies relating to privacy, confidentiality and respect (HIPPA).
Must be flexible with sharing training duties for new employees and MLT/MLS students with other lab personnel when requested to do so. Must be trained and certified to collect Urine Drug Screens for DOT and Non-DOT employees. Must be trained and certified to perform Breath Alcohol Testing for DOT employees. Qualifications May have earned a certificate from a Medical Assistant Program at an accredited institution. May have earned a certificate from a Phlebotomy Program at an accredited institution.
May be registered or licensed with ASCP. Previous on-the-job phlebotomy training. Must be able to travel to other work sites as needed with own transportation. Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) or will be certified within six months of hire.
