FLSA Status Exempt Job Role Summary The Gender Health Licensed Clinician completes program intakes/biopsychosocial evaluations (BPSE) of transgender and gender-diverse clients to develop an integrated diagnostic summary.
This position provides a variety of individual therapeutic interventions and is familiar with best practices for effective psychotherapy This position has a comprehensive understanding of the risks/benefits of gender-affirming care, including hormone therapy and surgery. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Proactively contributes
to Eskenazi Health's mission: Advocate, Care, Teach and Serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County Models Eskenazi Health's values Licensed Clinicians perform their functions more independently due to having obtained licensure in the State of Indiana Completes biopsychosocial evaluation (BPSE) of transgender clients; integrating information gathered by the team and developing the integrated diagnostic summary Evaluates readiness for readiness for hormone replacement therapy and/or surgery Completes comprehensive interactionual health history backsses and diagnoses coexisting mental health concerns and distinguishes these from gender dysphoria backsses current psychosocial
stability backsses for co-occurring substance abuse backsses patient's ability for informed consent and understanding of risks/benefits of planned surgery Helps create after-care plan Provides care to stabilize coexisting mental health/substance abuse issues Identifies barriers to care and assists in linking transgender clients to appropriate resources and services to overcome barriers Has comprehensive understanding of the risks/benefits of hormone replacement therapy and gender-affirming surgery Communicates clearly between mental health, medical, and surgical members of the treatment team and completes a letter according to the Standards of Care for the PCP and/or surgeon Prepares treatment plans for transgender clients based upon the BPSE and in consultation with the treatment team Manages a caseload of transgender clients by identifying therapeutic, rehabilitative and case management needs; engages other team members in meeting these needs as may be indicated Performs a variety of individual, family and group therapeutic interventions for transgender clients, and is familiar with best practices for a variety of client populations, including transgender clients Evaluates and updates the treatment plan at intervals determined by guidelines, (including WPATH), consulting with transgender client, family and team in this process Acts as an advocate for the transgender client in meeting their needs Completes documentation of activities and written reports in an accurate and timely manner, including letters of referral for hormone replacement therapy, both top and bottom gender reassignment surgery Continuously evaluates transgender clients' mental status, reporting progress to the team and treating psychiatrist Identifies community resources and assists transgender clients in their access to these resources Provides indirect service to external agencies and community through consultation and education Interprets and applies service and billing procedures according to client needs; completes billing according to guidelines for timeliness and accuracy Alters activities/behaviors to reflect and ensure adequate care which is appropriate to the age of the clients served Serves as a clinical resource for less experienced staff Do I Qualify?
Master's degree in human service field and licensed in clinical work (LCSW, LMFT, LMHC) Minimum of 3 years' experience providing clinical mental health services State licensed for independent practice Valid Indiana driver's license Experience working with LGBTQ+ clients, and specifically gender-diverse clients, is strongly preferred Accredited by The Joint Commission and named as one of Indiana's best employers by Forbes magazine for two consecutive years and the top hospital in the state for community benefit by the Lown Institute , Eskenazi Health's programs have received national recognition while also offering new health care opportunities to the local community.
