investigators in the department and across the hospital and is responsible for cloning, construct optimization, protein purification, biophysical studies, and structure determination. This job is a bench-based scientist role where you will conduct experiments, interact closely with other scientists and investigators, and participate in collaborative research toward understanding the basis of disease.

Responsibilities : The candidate will use their molecular biology, biochemistry, and structural biology skills, design constructs, and purify proteins for structural and biophysical studies. Work with several labs and determine structures using x-ray crystallography and/or cryo-EM technologies.

Able to troubleshoot cloning, protein expression and purification problems. Interpret, analyze, and communicate structural biology results with collaborators.

Prioritize work and complete assignments in a timely fashion. Train and mentor research associates, students, and/or postdoctoral associates who seek to leverage the Protein Technologies Center's capabilities at St. Jude. Preferred Experience and Skills : Experience in sample preparation for both negative-stain and single particle EM, data collection, data processing and model building. Demonstrated ability to purify challenging macromolecules and/or complexes (e. g. membrane proteins, viral glycoproteins, antibody-antigen complexes

etc. ). Minimum Education and/or Training: Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific area is required.

Ph D in molecular biology, biochemistry, protein engineering, or any related discipline preferred. Minimum Experience: Seven (7) years of relevant post-degree work experience is required with a Bachelor's degree. Five (5) years of relevant post-degree work experience is required with a Master's degree. Three (3) years of relevant post-degree work experience is required with a Ph D.
