Massage Therapist Position Details The massage therapist delivers a healthcare service that entails the systemic manipulation or application of pressure to the soft tissue of the human body for therapeutic purposes.
This encompasses various massage therapy methods and techniques such as effleurage, petrissage, tapotement, compression, vibration, friction, and fascial manipulation. These methods may be applied manually or with the assistance of a mechanical device that replicates or enhances the actions of the hands. Additionally, the
use of oils, lotions, or similar preparations may be included in the therapeutic process. The massage therapist also: Performs massage therapy according to established ethical standards by the NCBTMB and by state standards.
Completes documentation of the therapy following approved policy and procedure. Applies knowledge of growth and development in customer interactions and adapts care according to patient's age/developmental stage. What You Offer Successful completion of a course of study consisting of 500 or more classroom hours of supervised instruction from a recognized school with a curriculum that meets the basic guidelines under section 148D.20 for massage therapy. Must qualify
for the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) by the portfolio review processes or the current equivalent.
Must have achieved a passing score on the State or National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork or its equivalent; certificate required.
