SEASPAR (the South East Association for Special Parks And Recreation) is a special recreation association providing year-round recreational programs and services to residents with disabilities in the following communities in Illinois: Brookfield, Clarendon Hills, Darien, Downers Grove, Indian Head Park, La Grange, La Grange Park, Lemont, Lisle, Western Springs, Westmont, and Woodridge.

SEASPAR offers year-round programming for all ages and all disabilities, including: weekly social, artistic, cultural, and fitness programs; special events and trips; Special Olympics training; adapted sports; multi-sensory rooms; and

much more! Main Responsibilities Instruct recreation and leisure programs as developed and sponsored by SEASPAR, with a range of twelve to sixteen hours of direct leadership per week.

Develop programs and special events for children and adolescents which include developing and maintaining a wide range of recreation and leisure programs which must meet the needs and interests of SEASPAR's residents, in addition to coordinating the use of community facilities to meet program needs. Work in tandem with the Program Manager to provide recreation opportunities to the special education classrooms in the local schools through the agency's SOAR program. Plan and implement all aspects of summer

day camp program, including scheduling, training, and supervising camp staff.

Serve as participant liaison to welcome new children and adolescent participants, develop participant profiles, and mediate problems related to participants. Work alongside SEASPAR's Behavior Oversight Committee to observe, develop, and maintain participant support plans and accommodations. Develop, organize, and plan weekly activities, special events, day camp, and programs for people with disabilities. Network with parents and teachers of students in early childhood programs to share opportunities available at SEASPAR. Oversee all aspects of all sensory rooms, including purchasing and maintaining equipment, scheduling, and training staff.

Work Schedule and Location The typical hours for the Recreation Coordinator are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a. m. -4:30 p. m. However, attendance at evening and weekend programs and events is frequent and required. This position's primary workplace is located at the SEASPAR office in Downers Grove. Frequent travel to program locations is required. Compensation In exchange for your time and talent, this position offers competitive compensation with a starting salary of $42,000-$48,000 based on experience and qualifications, in addition to medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund pension plan, medical and dependent flexible spending account, paid time off (including holiday, vacation, personal, and sick), and tuition reimbursement.
