Position Summary: We are looking for Cashiers to manage all transactions with customers accurately and efficiently. Cashier responsibilities include receiving payments and issuing receipts and keeping track of all cash, check and credit transactions. To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience in a customer service position and good knowledge of how cash registers
operate. You should be available to take evening and weekend shifts occasionally. Ultimately, you’ll ensure all transactions run smoothly and will help us maximize customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities : Manage transactions with customers using cash registers Scan goods and ensure pricing & product is accurate Collect payments whether in cash, check or credit Issue receipts and change as necessary Resolve customer complaints, guide them, and provide relevant information Maintain clean and tidy checkout areas Requirements : Work experience as a retail cashier or in a similar role in sales Basic PC knowledge Familiarity with electronic equipment, like cash register and POS Good math skills
Strong communication and time management skills Customer satisfaction-oriented Physical demands include, but are not limited to: Walking/standing on concrete up to 10 hours/day Frequently turning, standing, reaching, stooping, and/or bending Frequently pushing/pulling objects 500 to 1,500 lbs.
Frequently lifting/carrying objects more than 60 lbs. Work Environment: Requires frequent exposure to cold/freezing temperatures Equipment in motion (forklifts, electric pallet jacks, scooters) Performs other work-related duties as required and assigned. May be required to work in other departments as needed. Interact with museum visitors by answering questions about the facility programs and ticket options. Maintain a high level of understanding and knowledge of Play House programs, offerings, and front desk operations.
Perform cashier duties including handling cash, check and charge transactions. Promote and sell Play House admissions, memberships, and programs. Check in and direct guests for museum workshops and programs. Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked front desk area; assist in exhibition cleaning and organizing on a daily basis and perform spot cleaning
in other areas as needed. Tend to the Play House Gift Shop to promote sales; including, but not limited to: interacting with shoppers, upselling, and maintaining a well-organized, clean, and stocked store.
Light clerical work: answering phones and directing phone calls, data entry and other duties as assigned. Perform cleaning and resetting of exhibitions for opening and closing procedures daily and spot clean as needed. Exhibit an understanding of and promote Play House mission and core values in all areas or work and interactions. Follow all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of the Park District's safety program. Attend all staff meetings and trainings as required.
