The Chandler Emergency Department consists of 5 different areas where care is provided: triage where the patient is seen to determine how to prioritize their care needs, chair centric and express care intended for low acuity patients that can be seen and discharged within 60 minutes, these patients usually have minor complaints like sore throat, an isolated extremity injury, or simple laceration.
The acute care area is a 16-bed area where common emergency complaints like abdominal pain, stable chest pain, and mild to moderate shortness of air receive care. Critical care has 8 beds and patients in this area range from trauma patients who have been resuscitated
in the trauma area and need continuing care to patients in need of intensive care unit treatment such as septic patients or those receiving vasoactive infusions.
And finally, the UK Level I Trauma Center has 8 beds capable of caring for the most complex injured patients. This position works one-on-one with a Registered Nurse (RN) to complete delegated tasks and provide direct patient care such as: obtain vital signs, phlebotomy, documentation, assist with ADL's (activities of daily living), order and stock supplies, respond to patient call lights, unit orientation, and patient admission, transfer, and discharge.
