Northrop Grumman Payload & Ground Systems in Azusa, CA is seeking a metrology technician to join our operations & manufacturing team. This role will report on-site daily. This role falls under our bargaining unit union that is represented for this
group. SUMMARY The PHYSICAL STANDARD METROLOGY TECHNICIAN calibrates instrumentation and equipment used to measure physical property conditions such as temperature, light flow, pressure, and other physical science properties.
WORK PERFORMED Calibrates electro-mechanical systems as they relate to physical standards measurement, environmental control, and other physical science such as hygrothermographs, atmospheric/barometric pressure devices, relative humidity, liquid density and viscosity, material hardness durometer gages, metallic material hardness testers, pyrometers, mass and force, liquid and gas measurement systems and (non-set-up) dimensional measurement equipment using calibration
procedures, service manuals or calibration software. Makes test set-ups to perform calibrations using established procedures.
Writes calibration procedures and test methods (manual or automated) as necessary. Provides cross training and technical assistance as needed. Determines adequacy of measurement standards, performs uncertainty analysis and reviews measurement data for conformance to requirements in regard to accuracy and stability. Uses personal computers in the performance of regular duties for administrative tasks, automated calibrations, data acquisition etc. Uses mainframe computers for maintaining relational databases. Performs related and incidental work assignments including but not limited to vendor services, internal audits, recall system operation etc.
Performs duties associated with the Asset Management Center as required including; new equipment identification, P&E record generation, equipment rentals and leases, equipment deployments/pickup, equipment inventories, equipment utilization, maintains equipment ready issue spares, and assures proper equipment storage and surplus. Must obtain required certifications necessary to perform job functions. Basic Qualifications: Associates degree or High School Diploma with equivalent experience.
Normally, 5 years experience in calibration and repair of physical, electronic, electromechanical, and mechanical M&TE Must be able to perform all essential job functions and environmental/physical considerations Proficient computer skills Preferred Qualifications: One year experience in the calibration of RF and microwave equipment Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL) Specialist and/or ASQ Certified Current Do D security clearance Northrop Grumman is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
