Greene, Pamlico, Wayne and Johnston. The Float Nurse provides professional nursing in the care, treatment, observation, and counsel of offenders in accordance with standard nursing practice and theory, agency regulations, physicians' orders, and instructions from higher level nursing staff.
Position duties include clinical responsibilities, which covers the whole spectrum of backssment and intervention necessary to maintain maximum function and to promote well-being and are inclusive of, but not limited to, sick call backssment, assisting the physician, carrying out orders, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care, responding to emergencies, facilitating mental and dental health
care, preparing medication for administration and administering medications, monitoring for communicable diseases, conducting Chronic Disease Clinics, updating physical examinations, teaching, delegating to or supervising other personnel in implementing the treatment regimen.
Position may supervise subordinate staff. This is a floating position and will provide staffing coverage based on the need throughout facilities. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. Note to Current State Employees: The salary grade for this position is MH16. current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity.

About the NC Dept. of Adult Correction (DAC): The Dept. of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision. Other divisions include Administration, Compliance & Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs & Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission, and Rehabilitation & Reentry.
