The Assistant Shift Supervisor supports the supervision of the administrative and operational security activities in a correctional/detention facility. This role will directly supervise officers assigned to the shift and may serve as acting Shift Supervisor in their absence.
In addition they will direct officers in performing their duties related to the supervision of inmates/residents and the protection and preservation of their legal rights. The Assistant Shift Supervisor conducts regular inspections of all security-related and control-related functions. Must be able to work any post assignment on any shift. Directly supervise
assigned security staff on the shift and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff. Demonstrate and provide guidance to staff on adherence safety and security practices and post orders.
Interpret, enforce and comply with rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and contract requirements. Attend meetings to enhance effective communications between management, staff and inmates/residents. Assist in streamlining communications and maintaining consistency of operation between shifts. Qualifications: High School diploma, GED certification or equivalent is required. Three years of experience in a criminal justice field is required. One year of corrections experience, including the care
and custody of inmates/offenders is required. One year of experience in a supervisory capacity is preferred.
Additional education in criminal justice or a related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis up to two years. No substitution for the required corrections experience. Experience in Microsoft Office or other similar software applications is preferred. A valid driver's license is required. Understand material flow, bend allowances,
cutting clearances, stripping force, forming force, and holding force. Proficient at blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies.
Visualize and compute dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of assemblies, based on specifications. Set up and operate conventional or CNC machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes. Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools, using machine tools and hand tools Conduct test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications;
adjust as necessary. Strong trouble shooting and press call experience Tool steel welding experience preferred Transfer die experience preferred Cut, shape, and trim blanks or blocks to specified lengths or shapes, using power saws, power shears, rules, and hand tools.
Design jigs, fixtures, and templates for use as work aids in the fabrication of parts or products. Preforming testing and comprehensive component level troubleshooting. Build test interfaces to test functionally of parts and subassemblies. Accurately record Quality Assurance Work Order Data inclusive of diagnostics, resolution, and test procedures.
Working collaboratively, sharing knowledge and experience. Diagnose and repair problems with malfunctioning circuitry networks, ineffective electronic pieces, and missing or inoperative parts. Demonstrate adherence to the company core values in all professional interactions with internal and external customers and exhibiting integrity. Work overtime as needed. degree or higher in Electronics required or Military equivalent Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related fields Electronic Technician certification or comparable certification Experience with JTAG would be beneficial Competencies: Strong electronics and technical troubleshooting knowledge Well-organized with good follow through Works well with all levels of management, clients, end users and vendors Knowledge of analog, digital and power electronics Ability to learn maintenance and repair procedures with or without documentation Good manual dexterity and basic mechanical aptitude Quality through hole and surface mount soldering Experience in the use of bench test equipment: multimeters,
