Warehouse associate's work involves the skills of a forklift operator, order puller, picker, receiving, replenishment, inventory, and freight processor in a fast-paced distribution environment while following warehouse guidelines. The schedule available for this position is the day shift: Monday - Friday (8:30 a. m. to finish). Position Summary: The Shipping and Receiving
Specialist is responsible for assisting upper warehouse management in the coordination of shipment processing tasks in receiving, warehousing, and shipping of company's product in a manner consistent with speed emphasis and a goal oriented attitude.
This includes assisting the warehouse supervisor lead daily activities of pickers, loaders, processors, and forklift drivers while ensuring the load/unloading of all routes and transfer loads are completed according to plan. The Shipping and Receiving Specialist is the main person to monitor the shipment workflow to ensure all planned shipments are shipped on time and will communicate and potential related issues to the warehouse supervisor.
They will also assist in the building of loads and freight handling.
They will ensure all time related goals are met in regards to the shipment and receiving process. Responsibilities: Assists in expediting the daily workflow of the shipping and receiving team. Item processing, including but not limited to unboxing, tapping, labeling, packaging, and palletizing as needed. Receives instructions directly from warehouse supervisor in regards to coordinating the movement of picked product products, in processing goods or completing shipments. Administers strategies meant to optimize organizational inventory levels. Work closely with the Warehouse Supervisor to forecast demand, predict workload and workforce needs based on analysis of historical data.
Maintains contact with vendors and submits purchase orders or requisitions in order to ensure a continuous supply of consumptions. Uses working knowledge of the field's policies, procedures and practices. Assist the warehouse supervisor in maintaining department safety and training. General warehouse maintenance to maintain a clean working area and facilities. Restoration of product returns, ensuring the product has been cleaned, tested, re-packaged and sorted according to company policy. Assists in inventory duties such as cycle counting and others when needed to.
Inbound container receiving which involves unloading the containers we receive through the lumping method and palletizing them according to company policy. The job function listed is not exhaustive and shall also include any responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor. Expertise: Knowledge & Skills Requires full working knowledge of relevant business practices and procedures in professional field. Uses standard theories, principles and concepts and integrates them to propose a course of action. Provides direct or indirect supervision to a process, assigning tasks and checking work at frequent intervals.
Judgement is required in resolving all day-to-day problems. Qualifications Bachelor's degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience. 5+ years related experience required. Applicable industry/professional certification preferred. Regular and predictable attendance. Ability to work overtime. Experience in Machine Operating Equipment such as (Reach Truck, Order Picker, Forklift, ETC. ) While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.

He/she is responsible for placing orders and negotiating favorable terms of materials, equipment, and supplies (commodities-custom packaging-corrugating) from vendors. He/she evaluates vendor quotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers. Has solid knowledge of a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures within the purchasing/distribution field. The Sr. Buyer relies on independent judgment and discretion and deals with matters of significant importance that impacts the company’s revenue. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Prepares purchase orders and places orders for the purchase of goods and services.
Interviews vendors and evaluates their products and capabilities as supplier. Researches product lines, prices, product sources, and other relevant purchasing information. Evaluates research findings and makes independent decisions on procurement matters. Serves as a liaison between vendors and sales representatives. Obtains price quotes form vendors and compares quotes with the specifications and availability of items. Organizes updates and retains product information files and purchase orders records. Reviews contracts for change prior to bid or renewal.
Approves price increase provided for in contracts and makes changes as necessary and appropriate. Interprets and evaluates contract provisions. Reviews orders for completeness, accuracy and compliance with existing policies and procedures. Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, increase turnaround times, streamline work processes and work cooperatively and jointly, to provide quality seamless customer service. Performs other duties and/or responsibilities as requested Education and Experience: High School may have a bachelors degree 8+ years of experience in purchasing Experience in distribution environment a plus Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
The ability to write routine reports and correspondence. The ability to speak effectively to co-workers as well as personnel for sub-contractors and customers. The ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Good computer skills.
