Job duties include assisting in the maintenance and operational activities of storm drain pipelines, valves, fences, dams, reservoirs, channels, outfall structures, levees, electrical and diesel-powered pumps as well as smaller gasoline powered pumps.
Typically, the work is performed in wet and muddy conditions on steep side slopes and requires the use of 4x4 trucks ( which are issued by the District for District use only ) with winches and significant labor to set up several hundred feet of suction and discharge hose. Ability to safely hitch, unhitch, and back utility trailers, pump mounted trailers and fuel trailers and the ability
to work alone and in small teams while using good safety practices is required. Assignments are primarily outdoors and require good physical condition to withstand hot summer, and cold rainy winter, working conditions.
Experience in construction and the ability to perform a variety of maintenance tasks including electrical and mechanical maintenance are also desirable. This position rotates on-call responsibilities (evenings, weekends, holidays) as needed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The Facilities Technician I position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, and one year of general experience in industrial maintenance, water conveyance, or related field experience. A valid California
Driver License and good driving record are required. Facilities Technicians (except those assigned to the Operations Center) must be available to respond to emergencies at District sites within short periods of time.
Facilities Technicians must reside in the Fresno/Clovis area within 12 miles of the intersection of Mc Kinley Avenue and First Street, the approximate center-point of the District's urban service area.
