The Registered Nurse collects and records relevant patient health data accurately, with no more than 3-5 exceptions, as measured by random supervisory chart review and/or direct supervisory observation and co-worker feedback. The Registered Nurse backsses patients and reviews lab data to assure values within prescribed parameters prior to all treatment as documented in nursing notes and/or flow sheets as
confirmed on random quarterly chart audits. The Registered Nurse advocates for patients to ensure that care preserves and protects the patient's autonomy, dignity and rights.
The Registered Nurse delivers care in a non-judgmental and non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to patient diversity, 100% of the time, as measured by no significant, substantiated patient or peer complaints received by the manager/supervisor. The Registered Nurse assures that patients have informed consent signed for chemotherapy, 100% of the time, as measured by random supervisory chart review. Attends at least 80% of staff meetings (both CTC and Nursing) as recorded on the attendance roster. Assists in the development, review and revision of the Regional Cancer Program Nursing Policies and Procedures as requested by supervisor. What we need from you Education: Graduation from a Baccalaureate, Associate or Diploma Professional Nursing program is required. Licensure/Certificates: NYS licensure as Registered Nurse or valid interim permit must be obtained within 90 days of employment. Valid Driver's License. ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider certification must be obtained within 6 months from date of hire.
Experience: At least one year experience as an RN. Skills: Ability to backss patient status and take appropriate action is required. Demonstrates competency in required nursing skills relevant to area of practice. Ability to multi-task effectively in a rapidly changing environment. Physical Requirements: Walking, standing, squatting and kneeling required throughout the shift. Ability to lift and position patients required. Category I risk exposure as defined by OSHA. Must be able identify and differentiate colors. Working Conditions: Work location is a busy ambulatory care primarily on a weekday schedule, however, some evening, weekend and holiday coverage may be required.
Exposure to hazards presented by patients with contagious diseases and by daily interactions with potentially harmful agents (chemotherapy, radiations, etc). Travel may be required to provide coverage at outreach locations.
