(based on eligibility) Registered Nurse - CTOR Scheduler - Duke University Hospital, Durham NC Unit Description - CTICU, 7 West The Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit is compromised of post surgical patients.

These patients require high acquity care and the environment is fast paced and challenging. The patient population is inclusive of Post-cardiac and thoracic surgery, transplant, mechanical circulatory support, where type of procedures performed are inclusive of CABG, Valve replacement/repair, ECMO, heart/lung transplant, Ventricular Assist Device, thoracic surgery, and Aortic surgery Responsibilities include coordinating surgical procedures with multiple team members, scheduling and obtaining pre-operative testing.

This individual works closely with staff assistants, physicians, and surgery team to providing accurate, timely, and responsive work. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: •Coordinates and schedules surgeries as designated by physicians. •Interacts with physicians and other staff providing accurate, timely and responsive information. •Ensures efficient telephone communication. •Documents work processes as required. •Follows all written protocols and procedures of the OR scheduling office. •Demonstrates courtesy and helpfulness toward physicians and staff.

•Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff, and management. •Books surgeries based on physician volume maintaining appropriate standard turn-around times. •Identifies scheduling barriers and implements solutions to improve scheduling results based on predetermined goals 4 days/ 10 hour shifts OR 5 days/ 8 hour shift (no weekends, no holidays) Knowledge, Skills, Education, and Experience Required: 1 plus years of RN experience is required Graduation from an accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (or higher), Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program is required.

All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within five years of their start date Licensure, Certification or Registration Required: Current registration ( or in the process of obtaining) with North Carolina State Board of Nursing as a registered professional nurse OR current compact RN licensure to practice in the state of North Carolina required BLS (or higher) certification required Duke Nursing Highlights: Duke University Health System is designated as a Magnetorganization Nurses from each hospital are consistently recognized each year as North Carolina’s Great 100 Nurses.
