Position holder serves as a Probation Officer for the Adult Supervision Division within Clark County Probation and Supervision.

Position holder is responsible for overseeing participants in the Clark County IMPACT Court. This includes developing treatment plans, monitoring and documenting compliance, performing home visits and recommending sanctions and rewards to the problem-solving court team. DUTIES: Assists in interviewing clients, collects and completes required documentation

and assists in determining eligibility for Treatment Court participation based on nature of charge, past history, and requirements for specialty court. Attend regular staff meetings and confer with Division Chief for case consultations, review of documents and reports, and other work-related issues.

Testify in Court as required and attend relevant hearings. Maintain probation caseload for adult offenders to include: interviewing offenders and preparing reports and recommendations for the Court; supervising offender; providing regular urinalysis testing; monitoring fee collections, payments of restitution, and community service; keeping accurate case notes and paperwork; assisting victims;

attending relevant hearings; performing related duties as needed or assigned.

Maintain probation computer and paper files including summaries of intake interviews, treatment, and/or education information. Reviews all paperwork completed by the probationer to verify accuracy of information. Prepare reports and recommendations required by the Court, Department, and Division. Attend training seminars, annual state probation officer conference and other professional development workshops, training, and education as required or needed to maintain certification and remain current in new developments in the field of probation. Perform additional related duties as assigned and/or required by law.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor degree from accredited college or university. Ability to acquire a State certification as probation officer and continuing completion of all certification requirements. Working knowledge of standard computer software programs, applications, county computer system and state mandated applications. Ability to operate standard office equipment such as copier, fax machine, computer, printer, scanner and other necessary equipment. Ability to effectively interview, investigate, and work with clients to assure proper completion of all probation requirements.

Ability to effectively resolve emergency/crisis situations and take appropriate action as required. Ability to gain knowledge of all local, state and federal laws applicable to probation operations, with ability to apply and enforce regulations as needed. Ability to gain knowledge of standard policies and practices of Clark County legal process and probation office and to follow these policies, rules and procedures. Ability to gain knowledge of treatment programs and services available to clients from other government, social and private agencies. Ability to effectively work with clients and cooperate and communicate with department employees, personnel and officials from a wide variety of government departments and social agencies, and members of the general public.

All communication with probationers, other staff, and agencies shall be carried out in a courteous and professional manner. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of all department records and information. Ability to effectively perform all essential duties of the job to include the ability to access residences and work sites of probationers. Must possess a legal driver's license. Ability to follow all personnel policies and rules of the organization.

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Position holder performs duties in a standard office environment, homes, work sites and in the community in general with no unusual physical demands. Position holder has some contact with emotionally distraught, chemically dependent and potentially dangerous and/or violent clients. WORK COMPLEXITY: Position holder performs case-related probation officer duties in accordance with legal requirements and generally applicable guidelines, exercising judgment to effectively backss, evaluate and work with clients to assure satisfactory completion of all program requirements.

Position holder's work involves a wide variety of duties involving both general and individual circumstances and often requiring careful, detailed consideration of complex situations and choices. Duties such as backssing human needs, behaviors and social problems require the most judgment and adaptation of the position holder's guidelines such as Department Policy and Procedures.
