Chubb is currently seeking a Commercial Lines Life Sciences Underwriter to join our industry leading Life Sciences practice.
Main responsibilities include: Financial performance, including profit, growth, rate, retention, and identifying cross-sell opportunities, of a book of commercial business consisting of Life Science accounts. Underwrite and negotiate new lines and renewals on a commercial lines portfolio of $7M to $9M in Life Science business. New business production goal of $1.5M
+ annually Responsible for account solicitation, risk selection and analysis (including documentation), pricing and sales of Industry segment coverage products and services for new and existing customers.
Lines of business include commercial package, product liability, automobile, umbrella, workers compensation, and international lines including foreign clinical trial policies for Life Sciences business. Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers in order to successfully produce, manage and grow our business. Meet with high level client management team (i. e. CFO, COO, Product Development Director) for new and renewal customers and agents and brokers to negotiate coverage,
price, terms and service delivery. Skills and Competencies: Solid knowledge of commercial underwriting with the ability to analyze risks, adhere to underwriting strategies, prioritize the gathering of underwriting data, and clearly communicate a well thought out underwriting approach.
C-Suite level business communication skills, acumen, and professionalism for direct client engagement 7+ years of underwriting experience preferably in Life Sciences. While we would prefer having Life Science experience, the most important attribute is having a strong multiline P&C underwriting background preferably on multiple lines of business with strong interest in working on accounts in the Life Science Industry.
Demonstrated technical expertise and product specific knowledge with experience handling Life Science business is desired. Strong analytical skills including financial analysis Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills. Ability to effectively interact at all levels of with both internal and external business partners to drive results. Strong written and oral communication skills Ability to be creative and adaptable in a changing business environment Sound, balanced, and timely decision-making skills Education and Experience: Seven + years of multi-line underwriting experience is required.
Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience. (ie STEM, Biology, or Lab work is a plus) Background in underwriting commercial accounts preferred. The pay range for the role is $80,500 to $137,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant's skills and other factors.
