Adheres to clinical and staffing policies and procedures Follows appropriate chain of command when seeking solutions to patient care problems Participates in the implementation, evaluation and refinement of the organization's and unit's process improvement activities Consistently communicates clinical policy and procedures with members of the team. Attends unit staff meetings and charge nurse meetings; effectively communicates information

to staff members; Notifies staffing office of changes in staffing Facilitates orientation of new personnel providing feedback to management staff about work performance and the ability to meet department standards of care Collaborates with staff nurses to schedule meals and breaks, maintain nurse to patient ratios within established standards, and evaluate the need for sitters and overtime.

Ability to facilitate staff accountability and clinical development of team members Knowledgeable in current area of specialty nursing practices, techniques and procedures. Interacts with patients, families in a nonjudgmental and nondiscriminatory manner that is sensitive to diversity issues Ensures delivery of care in a manner that preserves/protects client autonomy, dignity and rights, including patient and family involvement and choice in the plan of care Responsible for rounding on unit patients daily, tracks that rounding on departmental charge nurse log.

Demonstrates willingness to coach/mentor staff. Interacts with peers in a nonjudgmental and nondiscriminatory manner that is sensitive to diversity issues Will bring to the Director issues that are affecting the staff morale or ability to function well in their jobs Works collaboratively and cooperatively with healthcare team to assure optimal continuity and coordination of patient care Communicates with medical staff to coordinate medical and nursing case management; discusses potential problems and adjusts plan of care as needed Works to remove barriers to patients moving to the appropriate level of care.

Participates as appropriate in unit-specific CQI teams Communicates in a positive manner with patients, families and interdisciplinary team regarding the plan of care or upcoming treatments. Ability to function as a resource to all levels of nursing and unit personnel to provide optimal patient care Collects data as directed by Director according to specified time.

Prioritizes data collection based on work flow. Maintains effective working relationships with patients, visitors, all levels of nursing personnel, ancillary services and physicians. The Charge Nurse demonstrates the principles of continuous quality improvement in problem solving and promoting excellence Work with Director to meet regulatory requirements Ability to determine most effective use of resources to achieve unit fiscal and patient care quality goals Other: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Bachelor's: BSN preferred. BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Minimum 2 years recent acute care RN experience in the same or a similar unit. Staff Nurse III preferred. Basic computer skills.
