The Technical Writer will ideally be able to curate metadata on written materials to support discovery from prior past performance on future proposal efforts. In addition to supporting deliverables and proposals, the Solutions Technical Writer will assist the Chief Technical Officer (CTO) and Chief Solutions Architect (CSA) in the development of publication-ready written material for technical journals, white
papers, articles, and similar materials. The ideal candidate will have worked in public relations, defense journalism, or similar roles that specialize in translating complex military technical topics for broader consumption.
Duties/Responsibilities: Assists all engineering managers with templates and pre-submission reviews. Collects technical materials in raw from across the company and catalogue them in a digital library. Works with CSA and CTO on Crafting White Papers (e. g. STRI, F-35, VFS, etc. ), the Solutions Technical Writer will develop papers of various lengths (from 1 page to 15 pages, typically) in support of various client meetings and defense publications to develop new
concepts for emerging efforts prior to formal proposal efforts Key support to primary SME on proposal technical volumes during proposal development Supports Capture team with capability matrix / data calls for partner companies, drawing from the curated document library Support for Senior Leadership in development of warfighter impact summaries from the curated document library in development of future business strategies Interviews subject matter experts and solution architects to derive content and produce compliant and compelling proposal sections Uses online resources of previously written source material Participates in color team reviews and offers recommendations for improvement to approaches Maintains repository of business development materials and research new material and metrics that aid in proposal development Participates in solution sessions and status meetings in pursuit of new business Serves as technical editor ensuring proposals and marketing materials are persuasive, accurate and mistake free Up to 10% CONUS travel may be required.
Requirements: 5+ years working in a federal contracting proposal environment Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Bachelor's Degree with 5-7 years of related technical writing/editing experience Fully proficient in office automation, such as Teams and Share Point, to assimilate information from multiple sources Complex MS Word document integration (multiple proposal authors) including merge, styles, and formatting Digital document library curation, including curation of metadata (keywords, discovery, etc.
