which gives us endless opportunities for business and personal growth! Description of Role: SRI Telecom is seeking an OSP Planning and Design Engineer with an understanding of OSP mapping (reading and/or drafting) experience to contribute to all areas of outside plant (OSP) design.
We will train details, if you are intuitive, can read a map, know how to draft well and have a great attitude, we will give you the rest! The successful consultant will be responsible for updating databases for tracking the acceptance of a job, the issuance of a design to a design contractor, tracking the receipt of the fielding, and QC acceptance. You will also provide cost estimating based on Comcast contracted
rates, reserve fiber wavelengths and other milestone related objectives. Tasks: Design and develop layouts for OSP and ISP Fiber design Develop ISP Patch panel diagrams/cable rack layouts Generation of bills of materials, splice sheets, and other supporting documentation for design.
Review completed design for errors and efficiency. Ensure design specifications are maintained. Adhere to appropriate quality standards set out in the design requirements Analyze OTDR traces, evaluate characteristics of fiber and document test results Assist in troubleshooting fiber circuits for light and path continuity Analyze current processes and identify possible efficiency gains Create and maintain appropriate
technical documentation Supports Specialists and leadership team with fiber design documents.
Reviews, resolves and follows-up on request and complaints. May advise, train, and guide other designers. Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Skills & Responsibilities: Experience or the equivalent education/certification with Auto CAD, Micro Station, Spatial or ESRI is required.
Bachelor's Degree or 2-5 years related experience Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications Visual design skills are a strong plus Knowledge of easement, right-of-way, and permit documents is preferred Competence in design methodology, process, and metrics Experience in designing and/or constructing telecommunications fiber networks is a must Attention to detail and ability to think creatively and strategically is a must Excellent organization and time management skills Must be able to work independently and without supervision Ability to interact and communicate effectively with other team members Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 7 am - 4 pm Salary: This position pays an average of $28.61/hr.
