Northrop Grumman Mission Systems has an opening for a Principal / Senior Principal Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals at our Linthicum/ Baltimore, MD campus. This position requires a Security Clearance to be obtained
prior to starting in the role. The selected engineer will perform as a member of an interdisciplinary team of engineers and scientists on a range of project assignments to develop innovative solutions to advanced technical problems.
You will develop and apply mathematical models for simulation and analysis of Electro-Optical and Infrared (EOIR) systems and may have the ability to demonstrate those models on flight demonstrations, in lab environments, and in customer applications. Initial expectations include: Experience with EOIR signal processing algorithms and software development, testing, and troubleshooting Familiarity documenting designs and test results Designing, testing, implementing,
and analyzing EOIR signal processing algorithms and software Building prototypes, simulations, and systems for testing Conducting and/or participating in technical design reviews of requirements, specifications, designs, etc.
Future responsibilities are expected to include: Contributing to the development of innovative solutions to difficult problems Supporting proposal teams and working with customers on product definition Developing and executing design plans, design verification and validation. Leading a multidisciplinary team of 2-3 engineers Presenting results to customers, both internal and external Basic Qualifications for Principal Systems Engineer: A degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Software or Computer Engineering, with: Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of experience; Master's Degree and 3 years of experience or Ph D and 0 years of experience; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience with Agile and DevOps execution Ability to write and debug embedded software, including systems design and development Knowledge of C++ and/or equivalent programming languages Knowledge of GPU development Good Problem solving and troubleshooting skills Good verbal and written communications skills for presentation of technical approaches, work performed, results, and findings Willing and able to work onsite and more than 60% within a closed area at the Baltimore campus Ability to assimilate new concepts quickly and independently US Citizenship required.

/ This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This position is contingent upon the ability to obtain/maintain Do D Secret Clearance and Special Program Access (SAP) prior to starting. Salary Range: $102,400 - $153,600 Salary Range 2: $127,000 - $190,600The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
