ncsu. edu/. The Information Technology (IT) department includes 18 staff across three units: Technology Services, Enterprise Operations, and AV Technologies. The department develops and supports information and academic technology solutions to meet the diverse needs of library users and staff. Department staff ensure the sustainable operation of technology-enabled services and spaces and provide leadership in defining technology requirements for library-wide initiatives and projects. The Technology Services unit

(6 IT professionals) is responsible for the Libraries’ staff and patron computing environment.

This includes deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting endpoint hardware and software; liaising with the university’s Office of Information Technology to support networking solutions; and collaborating with stakeholders to identify creative solutions for a variety of technology needs. Unit staff also manage the IT Service Desk, which provides direct assistance to Libraries staff. In addition to a Learning Commons lab space at both main libraries, the Technology Services unit supports a large laptop and technology lending service and numerous specialty computing spaces, such as the Digital Media Lab, the Data Experience Lab, and the Virtual Reality Studio.

Essential Job Duties: The IT Systems Administrator serves as a departmental resource for Windows and mac OS systems and provides technical consultations on highly complex projects. They perform specialized work in developing and supporting the Libraries’ staff and public Windows and mac OS environments. The position reports to the IT Services Manager. Duties include but are not limited to: Mentor departmental technicians in troubleshooting and problem resolution. Analyze system usage, optimizing performance and efficiency.

Responsibility for planning and implementing system upgrades and managing the initial imaging, deployment, and surplus workflow of endpoint devices. Document, manage and enforce device inventory and lifecycle management procedures. Generate asset management reports in support of device lifecycle management. Design networked solutions that integrate with university and library cross-platform systems. The Libraries supports flexible work arrangements, with the expectation that this position will work onsite the majority of the time. Minimum Education and Experience: One of the following: Bachelor’s degree AND three years of experience in the information technology field related to the area of assignment Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline AND two years of related experience; An equivalent combination of training and experience.

Other Required Qualifications: Experience working with centralized management systems for desktop computing, such as Microsoft Active Directory, SCCM, or JAMF. Experience with automated managed environment tools for deploying operating systems and applications, including OS-level scripting and automation.

Experience with complex, multi-platform environments; understanding of relevant cross-platform systems and protocols. Ability to lead small and large technical projects and coordinate with Libraries stakeholders and campus partners, including managing timelines and resources. Knowledge of IT Service Management concepts. Ability to organize work and manage effectively in a complex environment with a high level of detail. Ability to foster an environment of belonging and well-being. Ability to communicate clearly and knowledgeably, including demonstrated ability to communicate technical content to varied audiences.

Evidence of ability for ongoing professional development and contribution. Preferred Qualifications: Progressive experience with integrating and supporting desktop and mobile computing devices. Experience working in higher education. Certificate in ITIL v4 Foundation.
