The CTO was established to focus upon the provision of clinical research across East Carolina University. The CTO assists ECU faculty to develop, maintain, and promote the safe conduct of clinical trials at ECU, Vidant Health Systems, and

across the eastern corridor of North Carolina Job Duties : The Clinical Trials Systems Administrator supports the CTO by maintaining and aligning specific information technology systems that enhance the clinical research experience for scientists and researchers.

The position requires careful management of information for a wide variety of technological products related to clinical research across multiple departments, offices, schools, colleges, external sponsors, and partners. The Clinical Trials Systems Administrator is accountable for developing, monitoring and maintaining systems to manage clinical trials across all specialties. This position reports to the Director of Clinical Trials

Office. The Clinical Trials Systems Administrator will have a thorough understanding of the impact and workflows to maintain a research study management system, including parameters, cycles, procedures, time tolerances, interpretation of research backssments, and develop schemas for each research study.

The Clinical Trials Systems Administrator will work closely with investigators, and other study team members to analyze research accrual data. Roles of the Clinical Trial Systems Administrator include: End User Support Oversight and coordination of the Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS), ensuring all modules including clinical research, billing compliance, and patient registries are optimized for efficiency.

Develop the protocol for use of the On Core Clinical Trials Management System to be followed by all clinical trial teams. Reporting Consult and collaborate with the clinical research management team to review reporting needs and developing reporting mechanisms. Analyze data for real time metric reporting and financial management and tracking for all clinical trial activity. Ensure compliance with standards of the Medical Center Organizational Competencies. IT Systems Administration Maximize the use of On Core’s system-level efficiency by working collaboratively with ECU’s IT teams Integrate the On Core with other clinical operating systems such as the electronic medical record system and financial accounting system.

Serve as the primary resource to implement, modify, upgrade, and continual support for the management of the clinical research systems. Training Responsible for on-going training needs backssment and ensuring all persons utilizing the CTMS are competent to perform functions necessary for work on the clinical trials. Work with CTMS vendors and the Clinical Trials Office Director to improve upon existing training programs and to develop new training opportunities for the use of On Core.

Minimum Education/Experience : Bachelor’s Degree Must have working knowledge of clinical trials and related documentation. Ability to analyze complex clinical trial protocols and refine language and data into an external system. Must have the ability to work closely and effectively with a diverse group of administrators. Must have a passion for excellent customer service and commitment to exceptional quality. License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation : N/A Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education : Master’s Degree or higher also preferred.

Prior work within the On Core CTMS product is considered highly desirable.
