Laborer include Process Receiving and various storages. Process Receiving covers day and swing shifts seven days per week. Three crews rotate to provide coverage to this area. Overtime requirements in this position are common and may be required to meet operational goals.
The individual in this position will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of all receiving equipment, along with having the ability to make decisions based on sound judgment when a situation dictates. It is imperative the person conduct himself or herself in a manner that ensures alertness and constant awareness of the safe operation of equipment and its surroundings. Essential Duties and Accountabilities:
1. Perform all work safely in order to prevent injury or damage to yourself, others and equipment. Following the SAFE philosophy, talk with people observed to be working unsafely in order to stop the unsafe behavior and explain the SAFE way of performing a given task.
2. Deliver potatoes to storage and/or the BAF slab that are ready to process. Determine quality of raw material before unloading, rejecting loads as necessary. While unloading raw material, remove hazardous foreign objects (examples: large rocks, glass, drink containers, dead animals, etc. ) before potatoes enter the Flodin. 3. Record necessary information regarding shippers and destination for raw material and communicate
with BAF receiving area as needed. Ensure correct sampling procedures are performed.
4. Operate equipment, including pilers, tractor, trucks, Flodin rock/trash removal units and potato conveying systems, to unload trucks in a safe, efficient and timely manner. 5. Maintain clean work areas by performing regular sanitation procedures including cleaning of the Inspection Building. Follow applicable GMPs and Sanitation Guidelines. 6. Operate equipment to haul dirt, rocks, vines, and product as necessary. 7. Perform some routine maintenance on receiving equipment such as piler, belts, Flodins. 8. Performs other tasks as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.
This position receives daily direction from the Process Receiver. This position reports to the Storage Supervisor. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Forklift certification and current Washington state driver's license. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
