standards; major work tasks are covered by instructions or procedures and unusual situations are referred to a supervisor. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Depending on area of assignment, incumbent may not be required to perform some of the duties listed below.

) : Maintains buildings by performing minor and routine painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, and other relate maintenance activities using hand tools. Follows and maintain any preventive maintenance schedule for all buildings and equipment. Receives work assignments via work orders, executes assignments, and returns completed work orders as directed. Keeps all department grounds clean of trash and debris. Maintains landscaping

by trimming and pruning trees and shrubs, repairing fences, sweeping sidewalks, repairing irrigation system, controlling weeds, watering and cutting lawns using a variety of hand tools or lawn maintenance equipment.

Sprays lawns, shrubs, and trees with fertilizers, herbicides, and insecticides. Cleans drainage ditches and culverts. Maintains and ensures maintenance tools and equipment are in safe working condition. Notifies management concerning needs of major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, ventilating and equipment. Sets up and tears down meeting facilities according to program requests and/or directives. Issues and logs in all tribal properties used for meetings. Assists

departments in moving or unloading supplies, furniture and equipment.

Performs other job related duties as assigned and contributes to a team effort. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of the Tohono O'odham culture, customs, and traditions. Knowledge of applicable federal, state, tribal laws, regulations and requirements. Knowledge of departmental rules, policies and procedures. Knowledge of use of maintenance tools, chemicals, cleaners, and disinfectants. Knowledge of light construction methods tools safety practices and precautions. Knowledge of basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical and general building repair. Skill in basic math and measurement system.

Skill in providing superior customer service to external and internal customers. Ability to use hand tools and lawn maintenance equipment. Ability to follow instructions in verbal and written format. Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees and the general public. Ability to maintain privileged confidential information. Ability to work independently and meet strict time lines. Ability to work extended hours and various work schedules. Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or General Education Diploma and six months work experience in facilities or maintenance, or an equivalent combination of training, education, and work experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this position.

Licenses, Certifications, Special Requirements: Upon recommendation for hire, a criminal background check is required to determine suitability for hire, including a 39-month Motor Vehicle Record. May require possessing and maintaining a valid driver's license, (no DUIs or major traffic citations within the last three years).

If required, must meet the Tohono O'odham Nation tribal employer's insurance requirements to receive a driver's permit to operate program vehicles. Based on the department's needs, incumbents may be required to demonstrate fluency in both the Tohono O'odham Language and English as a condition of employment.
