The Park Maintenance Manager is responsible for the management of existing Presidio assets that include public spaces, recreational facilities, trails, historic walls, Trust equipment, and other programmatic spaces.

This includes but is not limited to overseeing the maintenance of park roads, sidewalks, trails, visitor facilities, signage, and equipment, following applicable guidelines, regulations, and sustainable practices. A key priority for this position will be developing and supporting a highly motivated, high performing ten-to-fifteen-person team that is customer

service oriented and prepared to own the responsibility for maintenance and operations of the wide range of municipal assets assigned. Our ideal candidate will demonstrate a combination of strong interpersonal skills, excellent staff management skills, and partnering effectively with other Trust departments to maintain effective stewardship of Presidio municipal assets.

This is a full-time position with benefits and a starting pay range of $154,995 to $169,555. The starting base salary is dependent on the experience and qualifications of the candidate. Applications received by December 26, 2023, will receive first consideration. Responsibilities Direct all operations and delivery of

maintenance services for developed and undeveloped park land, roads, trails, and sidewalks.

Lead staff organization, operations, and services. Coordinate and schedule all street sweeping operations. Oversee staff support of a wide array of requests including graffiti abatement, traffic control, special event support, homeless encampment clean-up, spill response, traffic calming measure installation and maintenance, heavy equipment operations (e. g. backhoe work supporting other Departments), masonry repairs/replacements, and mechanical maintenance for Trust fleet, from lawn mowers to backhoes. Work proactively to support a positive work environment that promotes collaboration and teamwork.

Direct maintenance for roads; public area refuse/trash pick-up; mobile/fixed equipment repair; playground equipment repair; material inventory management; signage shop; site furnishings maintenance; graffiti removal and special events support. Work collaboratively with staff in the Trust Department of Park Design, Construction and Engineering on park projects. Manage annual work programs. Direct, review, and evaluate, through line supervisors, a large maintenance staff and their work. Responsible for Department safety and training programs. Maintain and coordinate effective working relationships with staff in other departments and outside agencies.

Manage contracts to support Trust on the completion of maintenance services for park land, roads, trails, and sidewalks. Required Qualifications Minimum five (5) years of experience in the management of park maintenance programs; or eight (8) years of increasingly responsible experience in the maintenance of park infrastructure including five (5) years of supervisory and management experience. Knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment employed in maintenance operations related to roads, trails, signs, masonry, and related areas.

Demonstrated ability to lead and work on interdisciplinary teams. Ability to organize, develop and direct technical staff. Ability to perform supervisory functions including conducting evaluations, providing training and development, disciplining employees, and making retention or dismissal decisions. Knowledge of current health, safety, and accessibility laws and standards. Knowledge of principles and practices of warehouse and inventory management. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Excellent customer-service orientation.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel. Ability to manage a maintenance program and maintenance activities including preventive maintenance. Experience managing staff and ability to work in a collaborative team. Ability to supervise and backss employees, recognizing strengths and weaknesses, and assigning appropriate work. Ability to organize, manage, and motivate a large, diversified maintenance organization to operate as a high performing team. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, contractors, the general public and others.

Knowledge of contract administration and procurement procedures. Ability to respond quickly and efficiently to changing needs and priorities.
