Transmission System (ITS) projects. The role impacts Georgia Power, its parent Southern Company, and the industry through the safe, reliable, and economical deployment of BESS and Microgrid assets. The successful candidate will develop and execute the Georgia Public Service Commission-approved 500MW BESS, behind the meter (BTM) and Customer DER offerings as well as additional procurements to meet customer needs.
The candidate should be able to demonstrate previous related experience, including but not limited to working with Renewable and Regulatory teams and ensuring compliance with standards/guidelines (FERC, NERC, SERC, Southern Company, ITS Reliability Guidelines, IEEE Standards,
etc). JOB REQUIREMENTS Education: Four (4) year B. S. Engineering Degree or Engineering Technology Degree highly preferred - Electrical preferred Professional Engineer license preferred Advanced Engineering Degrees and industry certifications desired.
Experience Requirements: Experience in planning, design, engineering, operations or maintenance of the electric transmission or distribution system required. Georgia Integrated Transmission System (ITS) planning experience desired. Specific experience in BESS, Microgrid, generator interconnection process and implementation highly preferred. Working knowledge of Transmission and Distribution system including substation facilities, controls,
and communications. Proven experience in fostering an inclusive work environment for all employees.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, demonstrating effective communications at all levels internally and externally, including national industry organizations. Working knowledge of Transmission and Distribution systems including customer sited micro grids and automatic transfer schemes. Must be able to achieve results by working through others, including employees, peers, and contractors. Ability to lead and work well within cross-functional teams is critical. Strong technical abilities, proven success in leading BESS and Microgrid projects.

Provide support for GPC on interconnection matters at Southern Company level including Transmission Policy and provide expertise on Generator Interconnections associated with ITS participants. Provide input to future integrated resource plans (IRP), DER strategy, and interconnection policies. Engaged in relevant industry committees and working groups. Reads, interprets, and communicates policies, procedures, regulatory proceedings, and legal agreements.
Other Requirements Travel is sometimes required. Must live in/near or be willing to relocate within reasonable distance to Atlanta.
