Your Role: Salesforce Inc. is seeking an experienced C++ Software Engineer in New York, NY: In your position, you will assume a crucial role within our optimization team. Our Optimization Engineering team is tasked with the development and upkeep of application programming interfaces (APIs) tailored to address a wide
spectrum of discrete optimization challenges within the Salesforce ecosystem. Currently, these APIs find primary utility in intricate undertakings such as the optimization of vehicle routing and scheduling.
At the heart of these algorithms are cutting-edge combinatorial optimization methodologies, augmented by extensive commercial Geographic Information System (GIS) data sets. We are actively seeking an adept developer with a wealth of experience in the development of algorithm-based systems, particularly in complex contexts. Your role will encompass spearheading the technical aspects of constructing a resilient routing scheduling service, necessitating close collaboration with teams
situated in the United States. Your Responsibilities: Lead Development: Take charge of the development process for the routing scheduling service, ensuring it meets performance and efficiency requirements.
Algorithm Optimization: Apply your deep knowledge of C++ to optimize algorithms and data structures for efficient routing and scheduling. CI/CD Implementation: Implement and manage Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to automate testing and deployment processes for the routing service. AWS Cloud Integration: Apply your expertise in AWS cloud services to design, deploy, and manage cloud-based components of the routing scheduling service.
Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, product managers, and data scientists, to gather requirements, provide technical insights, and drive project success. Code Quality: Maintain and improve the codebase by implementing best practices, code reviews, and refactoring when necessary. Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring the service's reliability and performance. Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for code, design, and processes. Mentoring: Share your expertise and mentor junior developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field. 6-8 years of hands-on experience in C++ development. Proven track record of leading or contributing significantly to the development of complex software systems. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to optimize code for performance. Demonstrated experience with AWS cloud services. Nice to Have Qualifications: Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field. Mathematical optimization background. Familiarity with routing and scheduling algorithms.
Knowledge in GIS including open-source routing engines and Open Street Map data Experience with distributed systems. Extensive knowledge of build tools (Bazel, CMake, or similar) Knowledge of related programming languages such as Python or Java. Previous experience working in cross-functional, geographically distributed teams.
