As a Senior Database Engineer, you'll assist in the development and maintenance of our SQL Server database platform. You'll be responsible for developing, maintaining, and implementing highly available SQL databases, including physical structure and functional capabilities, performance tuning, data security, backup and recovery specifications, data dictionaries and data models. You'll be challenged to improve the way we operate, and how we can do things better and faster. You'll be part of a nimble, high functioning team working

on important projects that directly impact on our ability to deliver goods to our members.

Responsibilities and Qualifications Required Skills and Experience: Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent training and experience. 5+ years SQL Server DBA experience 2014, 2017, 2019 working with large-scale, mission-critical applications. Advanced Knowledge in Always On, Transactional Replication, Clustering and T-SQL. Experience with SQL BI stack or SSRS, SSIS and SSAS. Knowledge of Dev Ops technologies such as: Ansible, Git Lab, Jenkins, Terraform, and Splunk. Knowledge in scripting/programing languages: Power Shell, Bash, Python. Expert knowledge of SQL Server Availability Groups working with them in production environments and a thorough understanding of their use cases, problems, and pitfalls.

High level of knowledge of Windows Server and WSFC with an understanding of things needed to manage HA and DR as well as troubleshoot performance and connectivity. Extensive experience with Power Shell and creating your own modules for management and automation in SQL Server environments (beyond basic use of community created modules such as DBA Tools). Understand a query plan, what's relevant, what isn't, and how to tune things for performance without just adding another index.

Be the go-to person when there's a SQL Server issue and be able to triage issues and recover from them quickly and efficiently. Expert experience on database migration from on-prem SQL Server to AWS Cloud. Self-motivated and driven to better processes and increase velocity. Ability to participate in on-call rotation for 24x7 service requirement. Ability in all phases of technical writing for information or infrastructure systems. Actively participates and collaborates with others on one's own team and across REI for the achievement of business goals.

Preferred Qualifications: Working knowledge of other database platforms such as Oracle, Mongo Atlas, Postgre SQL. Snowflake & My SQL. Experience with Delphix, Data Masking and Qlik.
