the world. Reimagine Whats Possible Job Description Summary We are seeking an Applications Engineer to work within Rotoflow, An Air Products Business. The Applications Engineer is responsible for understanding a customers project requirements, including specifications, process, and performance targets to develop a differentiated and comprehensive commercial offering in support of business growth targets.
This position will work closely with the Proposal and Product Teams to provide technical support. Preferred working location is our headquarters in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; however, the possibility of working out of our Houston Rotoflow Service Center is available for highly qualified
applicants. Applications Engineer Roles and Responsibilities: Providing technical support to the Proposal Team regarding the creation of bids and proposals for supply of equipment and equipment solutions, Providing technical review of application requirements for standard and non-standard equipment supply proposals, Reviewing customer specifications and generating exception, clarification, and deviation comments for inclusion in the proposals, Selecting equipment based on application requirements, Performing mechanical review of selected equipment offering by evaluating bearing adequacy, rotordynamics, materials of construction, and operating conditions with respect to experience ranges, Performing initial technical risk evaluations to identify risks, step outs, mitigating actions, and fallback strategies, Talking to customers to clarify scope and definition as necessary, Maintaining effective relationships with all work team members, suppliers, and customers (both internal and external) to achieve these accountabilities, Completing within budget and schedule requirements, Collaborating with various discipline areas to ensure accurate definition of equipment offerings, Developing standardized product deliverables collaborating with Product Owners Collaborating with the Business Improvement Team to develop new and standardized design engineering tools and work processes for streamlining projects and product development, Challenging norms with alternate solutions rooted in engineering fundamentals, Promoting safety and diversity consistent with the philosophies of Rotoflow.
Qualifications and Requirements: 5+ years turbomachinery applications experience, Demonstrated mechanical and aerodynamic proficiency, Effective team building and teamwork skills and ability to work with engineers, technicians, and suppliers in shop, office, and field environments, Ability to prioritize project commitments while executing multiple projects and other activities, Experience with Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) firms and ability to review detailed specifications and compile offerings including datasheets, scope summaries and deviation lists, Detail-oriented, results oriented, organized, creative, self-motivated, collaborative and customer focused, Excellent interpersonal skills (written, verbal and presentation), Excellent analytical, creativity, problem solving, time management, and decision-making skills, Exemplify a passion for winning and ability to empower teams, Ability to build an environment of trust and consistently exhibit a positive attitude, 2D CAD and 3D modeling and simulation a plus, Experience with API 613/614/617/670 and related industry and petrochemical standards a plus, Experience with ASME materials and the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code a plus, Knowledge of packaged accessory systems (lubrication and seal gas) a plus, Rotordynamic torsional and lateral analysis experience a plus, Fluid, magnetic, and gas bearing design or analysis experience a plus, Centrifugal compressor and expander aerodynamic stage design a plus, Programming skills: VB, C#, C+, Python, Matlab, Fortran or similar languages a plus, SAP and MRP system experience a plus, Project/product management experience a plus, Education and Licensing Requirements: Technical Degree: BSME or related degree #LI-KC1 #LI-HYBRID #INDGEM We are the worlds largest hydrogen producer with over 80 years of industrial gas experience.
