For more information, visit. Overview The Optical Engineer will be a key member of the Advanced Imaging team contributing to the development of endoscopic surgical visualization products that

Core Job Responsibilities: Conceptualize and design optical systems and components such as: miniature stereo cameras, illumination sources, lenses, fiber optics, laser systems, and optical metrology. Design custom lenses and optical subsystems with ray tracing software, including lens elements, multi-lens systems, and other optical components. Establish optical engineering specifications, including key performance metrics, optical manufacturing tolerances, and test requirements for optical subsystems
and components. Design and develop custom metrology and measurement systems.
Drive collaboration and resources with internal cross functional teams and external industry partners. Required Education, Skills and Experience BS in Optical Engineering, Optics, Physics or related field. 2 years of experience in designing optical systems and components. Experience using optical design software such as " Zemax" or " Code V" Experience working in a lab environment with optical systems and lasers. Experience with hands-on assembly, alignment, integration, and testing of optical components and optical systems. Ability to travel up to 15%, domestic and international.
Preferred Education, Skills and Experience Advanced degree (MS or Ph D) in the field of Optical Engineering, Optics, Physics, or related field. Experience in optical tolerance analysis, including mechanical positional tolerances and defining lens manufacturing tolerances. Experience developing medical device equipment; minimally invasive surgical visualization instruments; in particular, laparoscopes and light sources. Knowledge of imaging principles and devices, including CMOS image sensors, photonic device design & characterization. Experience collaborating with internal and external vendors for optic fabrication.
Proficiency with ZEMAX, CODE V, etc. Experience using scripting languages and data analysis tools such MATLAB, and Python.
