This leadership position will be located in San Diego, CA. POSITION OVERVIEW: The selected candidate will
lead a diverse, high performing System Test Engineering team in the successful development and execution of System Level 3 test procedures. As the Test Engineering Lead, you will direct a team of up to 15 engineers and lab operations personnel while providing technical leadership and guidance to ensure program milestones are achieved with technical rigor.
This role requires keen knowledge of the air vehicle system, ground segment, hardware and software integration, and application of " Test Like You Fly" principles. The candidate is expected to apply exceptional knowledge and technical rigor to future development projects, proposals, and technical challenges. This candidate
will also be the lead certified Cost Account Manager (CAM) for all Test IPT cost accounts for current development initiatives as well as future continued support initiatives.
The Test Engineering Lead will actively promote Agile Enterprise initiatives. This position requires the candidate to work directly with high levels of both internal and external management to manage risks, issues, and opportunities related to the technical execution of the program. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, demonstrate agility and self-awareness in decision making, and have the ability to lead the team with a vision of first-time quality, engineering acumen, and cross-collaboration to build partnerships and achieve a common goal.
Test Engineering Lead responsibilities include working closely with the Global Hawk Lab Manager and FMS Lab Ops Manager to successfully plan and execute test activities and lab integration activities. Section Manager responsibilities include working closely with the System & Flight Test Engineering Department Manager and fellow section managers to implement department and San Diego Site initiatives, ensuring successful planning and execution of program test engineering activities, collaborating with programs to satisfy staffing needs and provide operations support (e.
g. incident investigations, metrics collection and analysis, etc. ), setting Workday goals and providing periodic performance feedback to employees, supporting the annual salary review and promotion process, mentoring and developing the next generation of technical and project leadership, and improving and implementing test engineering processes and procedures. The responsibilities of this position include (but are not limited to) the following: Responsible for the successful development and execution of System Level 3 test procedures to verify system requirements.
Track and report on program performance and execution metrics for cost and schedule including Earned Value Management (EVMS). Establish and track progress towards key project milestones in accordance with the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS). Track metrics of procedure development and execution. Technical management of 10-15 engineers and lab operations personnel to achieve programmatic goals. Work independently to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects at once. The ability to support weekends, multiple shifts, and off hours. Ability to create and foster close customer relationships.
Perform workforce planning in collaboration with the Enterprise Integrated Product Team and functional homeroom. Coach and mentor employees Lead strategies for future enhancements and improvements, with an emphasis on affordability. Thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels. Perform CAM duties for Test and Evaluation cost accounts. Develop yearly material and labor forecasts and manage to allocated budgets. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
