We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. This team will be responsible for product development for optical switching devices. This person will work with multi-discipline teams including: Sales and Marketing, Product Line Managers, PCB designers, electrical, mechanical, software, and optical engineering teams. This could include directly interfacing
with customers as well. What You Will Do Design, model, and optimize the mechanical structure and dynamic behavior of optical switching products based on various technologies such as MEMS micro-mirrors Perform a variety of engineering tasks such as generate mechanical designs and models, create test plans, technical documents, reports, and presentations, perform tolerance analysis, generate engineering changes, release drawings for fabrication, evaluate vendors, analyze issues and determine root cause Work with and/or mentor other team members to optimize and finalize design for full production and to meet all specifications Provide technical guidance to engineers and technicians.
Provide technical support for customers and suppliers Support process development and production teams Perform and/or support design verification, reliability, and failure analysis to ensure that design meets all specifications and customer requirements Perform other related duties as assigned by management Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, Optics, or related field related technical discipline At least 5 years of experience in mechanical system design and development Experience in mechanical design for free space and/or micro-optics optical system design, optical engineering, or relevant fields.
Experience using CAD tools, such as Solid Works and Auto CAD. Experience with DFMEA, PFMEA, DOE Experience with design for manufacturing and yield Demonstrated experience analyzing information and solving problems Experience leading projects and mentoring other engineers What Will Put You Ahead Ability to speak and communicate in Chinese MS or Ph D degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, Optics, or related field related technical discipline Experience with optical MEMS devices, especially micromirror arrays for optical switching, and/or with optical components and systems such as lenses, collimators, fibers, lasers, and detectors At least 8 years of mechanical system design and process development of optical products Experience performing FEA simulation using Ansys Mechanical or other tools a plus.
For this role, we anticipate paying $120,000 - $170,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form. At Koch companies, we are entrepreneurs.
