About the role: As part of Global Sourcing, the Supplier Engineer supports Metals Category teams with technical aspects such as the development, commercialization, and sustaining of procured medical device materials.
With a primary focus on the metal stamping category, this role is responsible for backssing components against requirements and partners with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Reliability groups to help develop, evaluate, and troubleshoot components through supplier interactions. The Supplier Engineer serves
as a technical expert to ensure quality and reliability can be repeated and reproduced throughout the life of products across all divisions. Your responsibilities will include: Collaborating with R&D to develop, evaluate, and qualify metals related components for use in medical device applications Understanding the manufacturing industry to assist with sourcing decisions regarding key suppliers Working with global suppliers to understand manufacturing processes and ensure quality and reliability can be repeated and reproduced throughout the life of the component(s) Partnering with suppliers and category team members to investigate supplied material issues, supply constraints and to support value
improvement initiatives Investigating and evaluating new and existing technologies to improve the quality and reliability and/or for value improvement purposes for current and future components Performing technical tasks to ensure component performance and supplier capability including the completion of component qualification reports, ensuring material regulation compliance, executing engineering change requests and supplier change impact backssments to ensure continued high performance Maintaining compliance to the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures to support the BSC commitment to patient safety and product quality Required qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in any engineering discipline with a minimum of 2yrs engineering experience Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate with internal and external teams Ability to travel up to 20% (domestic and international) Preferred qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Biomedical, or Electrical Engineering; Materials or Applied Science Experience working with suppliers and contract manufacturers Experience working within medical device or similarly regulated industry Experience with metal stamping, metal components, raw metals, or ceramics Working knowledge of statistical methods, six sigma and DOE Self-starter with strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate effectively with individuals on all levels (written and verbally) Requisition ID: 573988 Among other requirements, Boston Scientific maintains specific prohibited substance testing requirements for safety-sensitive positions.
