This role will support the HSBC Technology team, which has received extensive investments and will continue to undergo rapid expansion throughout 2027 and beyond. Here's what you can expect: As IBM Z Technical Specialist - Mainframe Network / File Transmission you will be a part of several functions within the job involving multiple products and technologies, including but not limited to support
and maintain the storage environment as well as the functional testing for the tertiary backup environment. You will be involved in overseeing the deployment, planning, configuration & testing.
In partnership with hardware engineers, you will oversee the setups of the mainframe DASD, Tape, and San Fabric directors. You will be required to understand the supporting ISV products particularly from the vendors; IBM, Broadcom and Computer Associates (CA). Core Responsibilities Experience working on several large complex projects in an architectural role designing and implementing technical solutions to commercial problems. Excellent problem determination skills and the ability to detect and
control any processing anomalies or system errors. Excellent written and spoken communication skills, particularly when conveying complex information, and the ability to build effective networks across business areas, developing relationships based on mutual trust.
Banking / Finance background would be beneficial Technical Responsibilities Manage system performance, reliability and availability to service level agreements. Ensure that hardware and application security and controls meet or exceed guidelines. Develop, manage and maintain a comprehensive disaster recovery plan for all managed systems. Design rollouts of system enhancements and upgrades. Create standards for supported systems Automate processes using VMWare Automation tools Create documentation and SOP's Provide Operations Support Interaction with Service Center, Network Control Center and other business support areas for problem escalations, resolutions, reporting and coordination.
For this role, HSBC targets a fixed pay range between $101,700 and $152,500. The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline preferred. 8-12 years of relevant professional work experience. Hands on experience in a GDPS, Global Mirror, Metro Mirror, Hiper Swap environment. Thorough knowledge and expertise with HCD in a large scale enterprise environment with numerous CECs across multiple locations Knowledge of Brocade SAN equipment and associated management tools (Brocade Network Advisor) Experience installing and configuring IBM Mainframes, Virtual Tape systems, and DS8000 DASD.
Strong overall technical leadership skills REXX Programming skills Knowledge of dataset structures.
