About the Role This new position for a Senior Principal Engineer will be working with the VP and General Manager of the Logic Technology Development group to set strategies for, and monitor progress of, Intel's future silicon technology offerings. The successful candidate will be working independently across a large technology development team and directly with technical program managers to align work
across several process generations looking for efficiencies and technical risk reduction strategies to ensure on-time delivery of new processes. This important position will require significant direct involvement and experience with silicon process technology definition, pathfinding, development, and enablement of manufacturing ramps.
Previous broad leadership exposure to external foundries, integrated equipment suppliers, and third party analytics is required. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Safety - Consistently support safety improvement initiatives in the fab and office areas. - Need to actively consider material choices that minimize impact on the environment on-site, in our communities, and at future manufacturing sites.
Strategic Planning - Envisioning and articulating strategic plans that will fit across multiple process generations and integrate into the larger goals of the individual programs. Plans need to consider technology needs, commercial implications, production affordability, and environmental impacts. Will be expected to create, negotiate, and proliferate strategic plans across multiple internal and external groups rather than follow someone else's roadmap. Cost - Create technical strategies that consider long term cost structures to allow future technologies to not only have high performance and scaling metrics but to have cost structures consistent with corporate goals.
Culture - Needs to demonstrate organization and emotional intelligence to understand how work is completed, how to remove roadblocks, where human bandwidth is challenged, and quickly react before problems arise. External Interactions - Need to collaborate with equipment and materials suppliers to develop technologies. Partner with suppliers to ensure that supplier strategic plans are aligned with Intel's needs. Qualifications Ph. D. degree in Physics, Material Science, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, or a closely related field. 25+ years of experience in research and/or development in the semiconductor industry 15+ years of experience with semiconductor yield improvement and driving device performance enhancement in an advanced logic semiconductor technology node.
15+ years of experience leading and setting priorities for multiple engineering teams in a large organization. Direct experience with semiconductor product optimization and debugging process interactions with products. Experience using opportunities from third party analytics company software and hardware capabilities desired. 5+ years leadership experience operating at the fab/customer interface. Must be able to start within 3 months of receiving an offer. Preferred Qualifications: Semiconductor process experience that stretches through pathfinding, transistor creation, interconnect performance, process certification, and ramp readiness.
Experience leading technical organizations as a manager of technical managers. Experience working with semiconductor process equipment companies to set priorities and partner in delivering technology advancements.
