Position Summary: This role will support design development of civil (sitework/earthwork/drainage) engineering
designs for the project site by preparing studies, drawings, and evaluations, in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements.
They will also work with other engineers/designers and other technical disciplines in a team environment. This role will be based in Knoxville, TN with periodic business travel, as required Responsibilities: Originate and check civil/sitework/earthwork deliverables of high complexity, including specifications, drawings, reports and calculations. Interpret and verify industry standards, guidelines, and codes for project deliverables. Report design quantities compared to estimated quantities. Participate in project design/model
reviews. Participate in constructability reviews. Review vendor information from subcontractors and integrate it into the design solution.
Execute schedule requirements while maintaining a high degree of quality in work product. Coordinate closely with other technical disciplines in executing work as an integrated team. Basic Qualifications: BS degree in Engineering (Civil/Structural or related), from an accredited university, with at least 6 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, 12 years of professional experience. Registered Professional Engineer or able to obtain within 12 months This role requires a facility-specific clearance that requires U.
S. Citizenship Must be able to complete and pre-employment drug screen and background check. Minimum Qualifications: Work experience should emphasize the civil / site design of heavy industrial-type facilities. Must be familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel. Familiar with the provisions of AASHTHO, ASTM, ACI, ASTM, FHWA, MUTCD and WBDG UFC codes. Familiar with the methods of procurement and control of bulk materials. Ability to independently execute the detailed design drawings of civil/ / site systems of high complexity. Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings and specifications.
Ability to express technical issues in a clear and concise manner, both written and verbally. Ability to resolve design issues with subordinates, other engineering disciplines, construction, and the client. Ability to issue a clear and concise direction to subordinate designers and drafters. Preferred Qualifications: MS degree in Civil or related Engineering, from an accredited university. Experience working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ISO-9000 and/or NQA-1. Experience with the use or knowledge of Micro Station and Civil3D Construction field experience.
