The Senior Traffic Engineer will bring leadership and skills to support project delivery with emphasis on operational analysis for our local, state and regional clients.
While the focus of this position is operational analysis, candidates will also have opportunities to support traffic design tasks if desired in our blended traffic operations and design team. Tasks may include but are not limited to performing capacity analyses, safety analysis, multi-resolution modeling, traffic impact analysis, data analysis, and task and project management. Ensures

Your Impact Develop transportation solutions together with our traffic, transit, and planning teams. Use cutting-edge analysis, modeling, and simulation techniques to evaluate traffic operations alternatives to best improve safety, access, and mobility. Perform traffic operation analyses and travel demand
forecasting for a variety of transportation engineering and planning projects.
Support development of regional and project-level traffic forecasts. Perform traffic operations analysis using Vissim, Synchro/Sim Traffic, HCS and other software. Prepare tables, figures, and technical reports/presentations to summarize impacts for communities, public agencies and decision-makers. Manage tasks and monitor scope, schedule, and budget. Ensure excellence in overall project delivery. Who You Are Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline. 5 to 7 years of relevant post education experience in engineering and prior traffic design experience.
Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification. Prior demonstrated knowledge and experience with local client protocols and procedures. Proficient knowledge of traffic engineering principles, practices, capacity and operational analysis, and project management. Experience working on multi-disciplinary projects involving roadway planning, design, and construction management; including project involvement in a variety of larger infrastructure projects, rehabilitation and construction of pavement, and safety management. Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to junior team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.
Proficiency with technical writing, technology, math principles, spreadsheets, and tools. Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. Flexible to occasional schedule variation to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change. Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements. Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree in Engineering. Local Professional Engineer (PE) certification or ability to obtain within 1 year of employment.
