Purpose: As a part of an engineering team, utilize fundamental understanding to complete key project deliverables in optical fiber manufacturing or technology development groups.
Scope of Position: Use scientific method to design and conduct testing/experimentation to collect required data. Analyze process data to develop product, process, or equipment improvements. Give recommendation for improvements, present findings, and document work. Responsibilities: While participating in a team environment, own key project objectives critical to Corning’s success. Interface with various engineering and operations groups to understand potential impact of product, equipment, and process changes. Ensure communication is established to address concerns and obtain assistance/buy-in.
Review performance data on new processes/findings and effectively draw conclusions. Communicate effectively to personnel at various levels up to and including the staff level. Education and Experience BS/MS Electrical Engineering/Controls in progress Relevant experience a plus Required Skills Familiarity with engineering process fundamentals and scientific methodology (e. g. designing and using critical experiments to drive fundamental understanding) Data/statistical analysis skills Analytical problem-solving skills Ability to build relationships, work in teams and interact with all levels of the organization Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively present information Results-oriented Knowledge of basic electronics and circuit design Python, C/C++ or Visual Basic a plus Preferred Skills Experience programming HMI/SCADA(i Fix), PLC (Allen Bradley Studio 5000) Hours of work / work schedule / flex-time Basic work hours are 40hrs/week; 8am-5pm; additional hours/weekends when needed to meet project objectives This position does not support immigration sponsorship.

How You’ll Help Us Connect the World. As a Test Engineer Intern, you will work with Development Engineers to fulfill test requests and relay test results, and provide recommendations to Product Engineers regarding test statuses and updates. You will work closely
with Engineers and Engineering Technicians to understand test methods, industry standards, and test platforms to conduct data acquisition. This internship is with our Connectivity & Cable Solutions (CCS) business unit and is based in Claremont, NC.
You Will Make an Impact By. As a Test Engineering Intern will be tasked to participate in the verification and validation testing of copper cable and connectivity components within a test laboratory. Here, you will work alongside Test Engineers and Engineering Technicians to understand test methods, industry standards, and test platforms to conduct data acquisition. Activities consist of mechanical, environmental, electrical, and transmission
tests that are conducted to characterize products against industry and internal standards.
Compile test reports to summarize test results which will be distributed to internal test requestors to drive business decisions. Required Qualifications for Consideration: Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s (upcoming sophomores, juniors & seniors) or Master’s degree in the following Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university Proven strong academic performer with a minimum GPA of 3.0 Strong skills using Microsoft Office Suite applications such as Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and Teams Must possess unrestricted work authorization and not require future sponsorship Military-Affiliated candidates encouraged to apply (Veterans, Military Spouses, and Guard/Reservists) You Will Excite Us If You Have: Working knowledge of Lab View programming language and printed Circuit board design Understanding of the engineering research & development cycle.
